Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you’ll lead the evolution of our test automation capabilities. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for our native and web platforms — with a strong emphasis on leveraging AI tools to optimize development speed, test coverage, and system reliability.
This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on building robust test infrastructure and using emerging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Cursor AI) to streamline development. You’ll still apply strategic manual testing where necessary, but your primary focus will be building, enhancing, and scaling automated systems using Appium, Selenium, and AI-driven development workflows.
Test Automation Framework Development (Primary Focus)
Architect, implement, and scale test automation frameworks using Selenium (for web) and Appium (for mobile) and Superagent (or other) API testing library.
Leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor AI) to accelerate development and optimize test reliability and coverage.
Maintain CI/CD pipeline integration for test automation using Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
Ensure automated tests are modular, maintainable, and scalable across platforms (iOS, Android, Web). AI-Augmented Development
Use AI tools to assist in writing, refactoring, and debugging test scripts and frameworks.
Collaborate with developers to integrate AI-generated code while ensuring human oversight for accuracy and reliability.
Prototype and evaluate AI solutions to reduce manual effort in test coverage analysis, data setup, and failure triage.
Manual and Exploratory Testing (Secondary Focus)
Conduct exploratory and manual testing for complex features, integrations, or edge cases that require human validation.
Perform validation of streaming playback, payment systems, and cross-platform UX consistency.
Monitoring & Observability
Set up and manage quality metrics and operational alerts using tools like New Relic.
Review logs, API responses, and monitoring dashboards to proactively identify and troubleshoot test and system issues. Collaboration & Support
Work closely with developers, product managers, and fellow QA engineers to understand features and contribute test strategies.
Participate in code reviews, test case reviews, and sprint planning discussions with a focus on automation impact.
Contribute to team’s on-call rotation for test failures and production monitoring.

- Strong programming skills in a test automation context (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar).
- Experience testing REST and GraphQL APIs and integrating API validations into automation suites.
- Proficiency with CI/CD and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, Postman, Insomnia).
- Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, or similar to assist in software development.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

More About Gaia
Gaia exists as a transformational network to empower a global conscious community.
Gaia (Nasdaq: GAIA) is a publicly traded company in Louisville, Colorado. We offer global video streaming of over 8,000 original series, shows, films, documentaries, and practices for conscious living to our members in over 190 countries. Our vast video library serves as a vessel for the community we seek to empower. We are not a subscription service that streams whatever pays our bills. Our content goes deep into select niches of Seeking Truth, Transformation, Alternative Health and Yoga channels. We often cover subjects that other media companies won’t touch.
We expect you did explore Gaia’s library of original shows, documentaries, and films. If our work on ancient wisdom, who are we, our true history, coverups, and metaphysics resonates, you might be a good fit for Gaia. We seek to hire and inspire employees who embrace our mission to empower a global conscious community, who hope their work empowers our community of inspired members, to be a catalyst of transformation. The best work we do every day is to remember our vision is “to empower the evolution of consciousness.”
The perks of working collaboratively with a team dedicated to sharing this mission include an on-site gym; a beautiful solar-powered campus, complete with hiking and running trails, community garden, and a labyrinth; and an on-site, mostly organic café that serves breakfast and lunch daily including a full-service espresso bar featuring locally roasted coffee.
Full-time employees are offered alternative and traditional medical benefits including preventative coverage; as well as dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance.
