About our client:
Our client is on a mission to make employee ownership the norm, not the exception. They help business owners sell to their employees, creating shared prosperity that strengthens companies, communities, and the broader economy. To date, they have supported over 135,000 workers to become worker-owners—but for them, this is just the beginning.
With 75% of all business owners in the U.S. looking to sell over the next decade, they believe that making employee ownership the exit of choice for small businesses is one of the most powerful ways to close the wealth gap in America. In this role, you’ll be at the center of making that happen.
Position Overview:
This is a unique opportunity to be the first product hire and architect of their product-led future. You’ll shape their entire product DNA, influence everything from product development workflows to long-term product culture, and help lead the evolution of a successful services company into a product-led organization ready for scaling.
You’ll also build their product and engineering team from the ground up—no legacy code, and plenty of room to build things the right way. This role is perfect for someone who wants to expand product impact and work on problems that truly matter.
Key Responsibilities:
Own product strategy and outcomes: Define the product vision and roadmap; tie bets to business goals and measurable customer value.
Lead Product and Engineering: Establish rituals (discovery, planning, sprint execution, reviews/retros), set standards, and manage delivery—with full support to push for exceptional user experiences.
Make experimentation a superpower: Run tests and rapidly iterate on product features and new offerings, ensuring the right things are built based on the right evidence.
Balance strategic product thinking with execution discipline: Think big about market positioning and competition while shipping iteratively.
Turn data into direction: Build the instrumentation, dashboards, and habits that make product decisions data-informed and growth measurable.
Shape a tech philosophy rooted in trust: Lead how technology, including AI, is used to amplify trust and connection—recognizing that what is not automated matters as much as what is.
-
Grow people, not just product: Hire and coach a team that thrives on feedback and continuous learning, building a culture where growth benefits both people and the business.
Qualifications:
7+ years of product with leadership experience at seed-stage or Series A companies
You’ve managed engineers, understand code, and can weigh build-versus-buy technology choices
Deep experimentation experience – smoke-screen tests, Figma prototypes, mafia offers, and wizard-of-oz experiments are in your wheelhouse
You’re at ease communicating in any setting – from presenting product strategy to a board to sitting with customers uncovering insights
You want to know what your customers smell like – you’re human-centered to the core, and know how to bring real-world customer research into every phase of the product cycle
You’ve led or been part of a services-to-product transformation, building software tools that scale service delivery
B2B SaaS or marketplace experience—you understand multi-stakeholder products that serve business owners, employees, and partners
Fintech or financial-services familiarity—comfortable navigating compliance and the challenges of building products in regulated environments
Mission-driven—you’re excited about applying product skills to drive real change in the economy
Growth oriented mindset–you value both giving feedback and receiving it, and growing and developing the capacities of your team as well as your own
